Broad reach

This initiative involves community foundations of all sizes drawn from diverse communities across the United States.

Each has its own history, relationship with community, and approach to this initiative. From mapping community resources for older adults in Albion to connecting elders with youth in Albuquerque, from recruiting volunteers over 60 across the communities that dot Cape Cod to engaging older adults in the immigrant cultures of Los Angeles, partners are helping communities to greater gain by finding new ways to involve their growing populations of people over 60.

Initiative partners are grouped within three programs that make up this initiative.

The Community Capacity Program

provides technical and financial support for specific community projects as community foundations work to develop and mobilize the resources, networks and capacity to expand opportunities for older adults to become meaningfully engaged with their communities.

The Community Solution Program

supports community foundations’ efforts to identify a pressing community problem or need and to develop and implement a plan to address those needs using older adults as a key resource.

The Community Assessment Program

provides community foundations with resources to identify and assess local barriers, supports, and opportunities for engaging residents over 60 in activities that improve their community.
